Apple’s quarterly results are in, and the company far exceeded expectations, hauling in 88% more revenue this quarter than the same quarter last year. Apple’s valuation now exceeds that of Dell by about $25 billion. It’s not all iPod sales, either.

Apple sold 1.5 million Macs during the quarter, and Macintosh is gaining market share at 3x the industry rate. Macintosh sales increased 36%. No wonder I’ve been seeing more Macs on campus.

It looks like the combination of the iPod “halo effect”, underwhelming response to Vista, and the advent of dual-boot capable Intel Macs has created a strong demand for the Macintosh. I wouldn’t be surprised if even more Macs show up on campus next fall.
