It’s starting to get embarassing, really. Despite having a smaller marketshare, all of the best text manipulation software seems to be Mac-only these days. If you’re not already using WriteRoom (and perhaps even if you are), you may want to check out Scrivener. The ubiquitous Merlin Mann has been raving about Scrivener, and commenters on his site seem to concur.

Scrivener seems to work best for writers who gathering materials together loosely, then continuously sift and sort them into final form. I can see how a tool like this could have been quite useful last semester when I was slogging through my Mass Communications paper.

If any readers get a chance to try it out for themselves, please comment and let us know what you think of Scrivener.
