Simplicity Sells

One of the reasons I appreciate Apple hardware and software is that the company has always favored quality over quantity. Fewer features well-executed makes a better product than many confusing features. A certain company in Redmond is still grappling with this concept.

David Pogue of the New York Times (and writer of several books about Macs) gave a 21 minute presentation about the concept of software simplicity last year at TED. The annual TED conference brings innovators from a wide range of disciplines together in one place to cross-pollenate ideas. The range of intriguing and amazing presentations makes for hours of viewing pleasure (can you tell I’m on summer break?).
