Books, Books, Books

Anyone out there have book-buying tips? As we all know, the cost of law school textbooks is out of control. I’ve ordered from Amazon in the past, but it can be a bit nerve-wracking when they’re out of stock.

If you have personal experience with money-saving approaches to buying law school textbooks, please comment.

I have used Amazon and half.com (ebay). I also like dealoz.com for a comprehensive price comparison.

Typically I use lawbooksforless barristerbooks and amazon. Seems like you have to shop all of them to get your books fast, as well as get them ontime and cheap. I’ve seen some books at amazon for $40-$60 cheaper than the others. It is hit or miss

My law school has an SBA bookstore that acts as a clearinghouse for textbooks. I’m not sure how they work around competing with the existing on-campus bookstore, but I believe they often have available “previous edition” casebooks. If you’re willing to juggle page numbers, the content doesn’t change a ton from edition to edition in core programs.

If your law school doesn’t have one and if you have room for yet another pet project, make this your baby.
