Amazon MP3 Store
I’ve been getting nervous about the dominance of the iTunes Store. It’s not a good thing for consumers when there is no serious competition, and a dominant vendor is less likely to innovate than one pressured by competitors.
Enter Amazon’s beta MP3 store. Amazon offers DRM-free MP3 tracks at $.89 a pop. The albums are priced at $8.99.
Amazon’s MP3 store is still in beta, and the selection isn’t very deep yet, but it already seems to carry at least as much well-known popular music as eMusic.
