William Gamble sent me a note about the most recent MacHeist bundle. For those of you who aren’t familiar with it, MacHeist packages several apps into a bundle and sells the bundle at a steep discount over what the apps would cost if purchased individually. The current incarnation contains twelve apps, including three games and some interesting utilities, and costs $49.

Here’s William’s take on the latest MacHeist bundle:

There are three that I think will be particularly useful to law students if they don’t already have them.

iClip is great for copying bits from westlaw and lexis because it allows you to put multiple segments in the clipboard and them chose which ones to paste. It is really nice because you don’t have to keep switching back and forth from your web browser and word processor. You just copy everything you want from the case or statute and then paste them as needed.

WriteRoom (see the MLS review) is also in the bundle. I like to use this when writing briefs or memos because of its full screen mode. It takes away all distractions and lets me focus on writing. When i am done i just open the file in word and format it to my liking.

DEVONthink Person is also a part of the bundle. This is great for creating a database of all your files. You can create a different database for each project and keep all relevant files inside.

There are some other useful apps in the bundle as well but I think these three are especially helpful.

If you decide to buy the MacHeist bundle and you want to give William the opportunity to win a prize from the MacHeist folks, you may want to buy via this link.
