While there are plenty of online databases and download sites covering Mac applications, there aren’t that many comprehensive but reasonably comprehensive lists of “must-have” apps. This list of essential Mac OS X applications fits the bill. I imagine this would be particularly helpful if you’re new to the Mac and would like to get the lay of the land. Note that the focus isn’t on including every application, only the ones that are considered by many Mac users to be top of the class.
