John Gruber at Daring Fireball alerted the world to the fact that Amazon is offering the pre-unibody MacBook Pro at a steep discount. The pre-unibody MacBook is also on sale at Amazon. My guess is these will go fast.
A coworker of mine has one of the 2.5GHz MBPs and he loves it. While the new MBPs look like they’ve set a new standard for quality, if you’re watching your pennies and aren’t a gaming freak or 3D artist, the 2.5GHz model may be just the ticket. I ordered one yesterday.
Note: The link to Amazon includes a tag referencing Daring Fireball. I kept the tag in because were it not for Daring Fireball, I wouldn’t have found out about this deal. I figure if Gruber gets a little kickback from Amazon, it’s my way of thanking him for a very useful bit of info.
UPDATE: In the Mac Law Students Forum, frimpo pointed out that as students, you can actually get an even better deal by ordering the 2.5GHz MBP directly from Apple.
