Having Trouble Accessing Your School’s WiFi?
A lot of people (at least at my school) have had connectivity problems with the latest Leopard and even the most recent Leopard update. This fix has been out there for some time, but some folks may not no about it yet, and it is quite simple.
All you need to do is download the Internet Connect program that was in the previous versions of Mac OS X, and use this program to connect to your school’s wireless network. The setting will be the same as they were before Leopard. Then, once you have connected to the internet, you can quit the Internet Connect program without being disconnected.
This fix has worked for everyone I know who has tried it.
You can download the program here.
[Ed. note: I haven’t had trouble with WiFi under 10.5.2. In fact, it actually works better for me now. Access to my school network was a bit of a chore under 10.5, and 10.5.1, but it seems a combination of changes made by the IT department and fixes in 10.5.2 have cleared things up. My home AirPort network has never given me any problems, under 10.5, 10.5.1, or 10.5.2. Please let us know what your experience connecting to school WiFi has been like.]
