If you’re transitioning from Windows to Macintosh, you may have some unanswered questions (like, “What is the Dogcow?”). You may even have some serious questions about how things you used to do in Windows are handled on a Mac.
Here are some helpful resources:
- Apple’s Switch 101 pages provide a wealth of information about how to set up and use your new Mac and its included software. The Quick Assist section provides solid basic troubleshooting tips.
- Andy Boyd has compiled a useful list of the ways in which Mac OS X differs from Windows. He covers basics like how apps are installed and uninstalled, how system prefs work, and how to burn discs. It’s a good quick overview of differences that might confuse a new Mac user.
- If you encounter problems with your Mac hardware or software and Apple’s support site doesn’t help, try going to the gurus at MacFixIt.
- Need more resources? Check out the Mac Law Students list of websites and books.
Finally, if you’ve tried all these and still can’t find an answer, ask in a comment to this post. Odds are someone in the Mac Law Students community can help.
