Apple Exec: Apple Beating Dell in Higher Ed Portables

Tim Cook, Apple’s COO, has stated that the latest figures show Apple portable computers outselling Dell in the higher education market for 2007. This still doesn’t mean that Apple is the dominant laptop on campuses, since HP, Sony, Toshiba, and other vendors crowd the market. Still, it’s a sign of the continued strength of the Macintosh platform.

Law schools are going to see more and more Mac-using students entering their halls. It’s a good thing more schools are supporting Macs for exams, but schools that aren’t supporting Macs well enough may face complaints from students who are aren’t willing to buy new computers just to take exams.
