Now that finals are over, I finally have the time to switch MLS over to WordPress. I’ve been meaning to do so for quite some time. The reasons:

  1. Comments. I feel like I’m talking to a blank wall. You probably don’t like the fact that you can’t make comments. Nobody wins. WordPress makes adding comments easy, and its comment-filtering capabilities are pretty effective.
  2. RSS feeds. Yes, I can add feeds using a stand-alone tool, but I’m short on time and I generally don’t want to be bothered. At the same time, it’s ludicrous for me to be such a big advocate of RSS and not have it on my own site. Doctor, heal thy self!
  3. Separation of posts and pages. One of the best things about WordPress is that it’s quite easy to make some content permanent and other content associated with a certain date. This means I can post one-off info in posts, and maintain the less transitory content as pages.
  4. Extensibility. Working on Tech LawForum has made me realize just how many excellent extensions there are for WordPress. The user community for WordPress is full of great ideas.

I’ll be refining the look of the new MLS over the next few days, and plan on dropping in some new features to make the site much more interactive.

Happy Holidays,

Erik
